Ashton Henderson was named the Associate Director of Football Advising in August of 2016. He rejoined the Florida State University Athletic Department in January 2015 as an Senior Academic Advisor/Student-Athlete Development Coordinator. Henderson previously served as an Academic Advisor for the football and track & field teams at Florida State University during the 2012-2013 academic years for Student-Athlete Academic Services. Henderson served as an Associate Director of Football Academic Services at Clemson. He worked with the offensive side of the ball from (2013-2015). Henderson also served on various diversity committees and worked closely with campus stakeholders, to ensure the university was inclusive for everyone. While he was a Graduate Assistant at Michigan State University, he developed and administered a freshman mentoring program for football players called “Keeping It Real Mondays.” This program was designed to help freshmen football players get acclimated to college as well as teach essential life skills. A native of Tallahassee, Florida, Henderson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Advertising from Michigan State University in 2010. He was a four year letterman playing cornerback for the Michigan State football team. Henderson returned a blocked punt 33 yards for a touchdown vs. Northwestern to help fuel the greatest comeback in NCAA Division I-A history as the Spartans rallied from a 35 point deficit for a 41-38 victory in 2006. In 2012 he earned his Master’s degree in Public Relations from Michigan State University. Ashton is married to Attorney Jasmyne Henderson and currently serves as the acting chair of the Ethic Concerns Committee for the National Association for Athletic Academic Advisors (N4A).
